ORDER ONLY

just to let you lot know, the changeoff happened without a hitch. we managed to switch them with Kingsley and emmaline in the washrooms of the restaurant where Algie’d taken the kids for breakfast. we'll be in yorkshire dales for the next week.

I have the most fantastic and gorgeous and brilliant children ever.

Nev’s been pretty quiet so far, and evelyn’s been full of questions, half of which we can’t answer. both of them got on with tiny right off, though. Nev's watching him now while al and evelyn make hot cocoa before bed. we spent today setting up camp, and talking about the news story and getting to know each other a bit. evie brought these memory scrap books she'd made of the two of them, and we got to go through them together, and al and me told them all about how we met and what they were like as babies and some stories from when we were at school. tomorrow, nev and me are going to take the rowboat out and see if we can’t catch ourselves something in the lake. maybe he’ll be a bit more up for talking then. he's lots taller than he was when we saw him get his wand, and evie looks so much like her mum. sings like her too.

Al will write more later. for now, it’s enough that all of us are under one roof, which is pretty bloody fantastic. Al’s always been more of an optimist when it comes to this sort of thing, and when we had to leave them behind, I figured the odds were pretty slim we’d ever be able to see them again.

so thanks, Kingsley, man.

thanks for letting me see my kids.

and thanks for this weekend, too.

al keeps looking over at me and smiling. and I keep smiling back, because we’re both so damn happy.

Cheers, my friend. Emmeline and me are having a pleasant time with Algie, actually. He's being a remarkably good sport about everything, I must say, although I imagine sleeping on the ground doesn't suit him very well. Makes his bones ache, a bit. I have a small suspicion he rather enjoys bossing us around, as if we really WERE Neville and Evelyn. He has an impressive array of very funny stories about you, Frank, truth to tell. Lots of good blackmail material here!
