so

turns out the tinned peaches from the train heist were bad news.

we've got a load of sick people here, including al, and she's in no shape for much. steve's got it too, so he's been directing laura on how to make some batches of things that'll help ~~between bouts of~~ but it's slow going and I'm not sure we'll have enough to go round. Poppy, if you can slip away, it'd be good. we're worried about the younger kids getting dehydrated, and vic has been trying to put on a good face, but he's got some years on him. we've got some adults who aren't sick and dudley and alec are helping hold down the fort.

I'm okay. so's terry. good thing we don't like peaches.

we can head to the cave and meet you there, but al's got to stay.

min, you could come by and swear in the people that want it, right? and between the three of us we can answer questions, and pass along the ones that are meant for al.

I'll come. You sound as though you desperately need a hand, and goodness knows I have plenty of experience with sick children.

I'll bring my stock of ginger tea, and I have some fresh as well. Steve might need some more, depending on which potion he's using.

She never confirmed when we were talking about Alice coming, either. Didn't chime in to agree or disagree about offering a chance to swear them in to the Order.

In fact, when's the last time anyone heard anything from her?

You don't suppose she's put out with us that we assumed it would be Alice who'd take the oaths from the kids? I hope not.

No, I suppose things that are decidedly worse than a nose bent out of joint.

At least our worst case is the least likely. If someone suspected or caught her in Order business, we'd already have MLE and the Death Eaters breathing down several necks.

It's the most likely scenario that worries me. Unfortunately.
