alt_frank(We're back from the Forest. We weren't sure if the centaurs would be ready for us, because we've always gone on the weekends before, so we mostly stuck to the places we'd already been so as not to take them too much by surprise.
On our way to the thestral fields, we came face to face with a younger centaur who looked angry when he saw us, and said we weren't supposed to be there, and we tried to explain about the treaty and summer hols but he was getting a fair head of steam and reared up and got shouty a few times and wasn't having any of it.
So we all tried backing away and saying we'd just leave, but he wasn't having any of that either, and we thought there was a fair chance we'd get shot if we tried to make a run for it, so we slowly sat on the ground and showed our hands so he could tell we weren't going to do anything sudden and tried to be calm about it.
Before anything could happen, though, the same centaur who helped us with the acromantulae came crashing through the forest in a pretty big hurry, and he sent the other centaur off, and then he came back and we made introductions. Turns out his name is Firenze. Anyways, we explained what we were trying to tell the other centaur, and the long and the short of it is I think we're okay to come on Wednesdays during the rest of the summer. We told him about Nev's birthday at the end of next month too, and how we were going to try to come as much as we could before he came of age, because it'd be better with four than three, and Firenze thought for a while and told us that he'd want to talk to Charlie before Nev's birthday. Well, at least we're pretty sure that's what he meant. They sort of talk in riddles. I say, Charlie, I hope we haven't done anything to make your job harder.
He also told us we ought to avoid the forest on the solstices, so it's probably a good thing we weren't planning to go this upcoming weekend, hey?
The thestrals were happy to see us, and we found another small tangle of unicorn hair in the Bloodthirsty Briars that took some time to get to, but no-one got hurt.)

Date: 2014-06-19 12:43 pm (UTC)It was unnerving there, for a bit. Those hooves look really sharp, and that bow was dead wicked-looking, too. Not that he took it out and actually pointed an arrow at us or anything. Too busy shouting, I guess.
